Plastic waste is in the public eye now more than it ever has been. Our PM Theresa May has put in to place a 25 year environmental plan to help dramatically reduce the occurrence of single use plastic.

The 25 year environmental plan is looking to massively decrease the damage we have done to earth and create a more sustainable future. In a quote from the government website ‘we are looking to leave it in a better state than we found it’ (referring to the planet), Gov.co.uk.

This movement looks to improve:

  • Clean air
  • Clean and plentiful water
  • Thriving plants and wildlife
  • Reducing the risk of harm from environmental hazards
  • Using resources from nature more stabsanably and efficiently
  • Enhancing beauty, heritage and engagement with the natural environment
  • Mitigating and adapting to climate change
  • Minimising waste
  • Managing exposure to chemicals
  • Enhancing biosecurity

This is important to stop the pollution of our air and water which causes a much larger over-all problem. We are no longer living in a time where we are ignorant to the damage we are doing to our planet and need to start making changes before these damages become irreversible.

For your company to start helping minimising your plastic waste here are five of our simple suggestions to get you started.

1. Plastic Cups

Stop providing plastic cups for your employees as just one cup used by each employee, each day can cause a massive amount of waste. This cut back can also help reduce how much money the company is spending. Reduce plastic- reduce cost!

2. Plastic Cutlery

Again this is a must for the list of things to go. This is easily remedied by simply providing reusable cutlery for your employees to use and wash up. This will also save your company a lot of money by reducing spending on materials that get thrown away after one use.

3. Ban Single Use Water Bottles

This will be cheaper for your employees in the long term also as they won’t be buying water. It would be cheaper for your company to buy everyone a water bottle for them to reuse instead of using plastic cups or single use bottles.

4. Water Dispenser

By having a water dispenser at work your employees will be further encouraged to use their reusable water bottles instead of single use plastic one. This will also save you money on plastic cups.

5. Educate

Explain to your employees the changes you will be making in the company and why. Show them how this could help create a positive impact on the planet and how you will be operating moving forward.
