Our Environmental Policy is released as a standalone document and is communicated and implemented throughout the organisation.
ENVIRONMENTAL MISSION STATEMENT
Our Environmental Policy is to be a responsible corporate citizen in protecting the environment. We are committed to complying with accepted environmental practices, including the commitment to meet or exceed applicable legal and other requirements, to strive for continual improvement in our environmental management system and to minimise the creation of wastes and pollution. We will, therefore, manage our processes, our materials and our people in order to reduce the environmental impacts associated with our work.
Our Environmental Policy provides the framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets. Our Environmental Policy is documented, implemented and maintained and communicated to all employees.
WINNS Services pledges to implement and operate the ISO-14001 Environmental Management System to further enhance environmental performance.
Our main objectives and commitments are to:
- Investigate the possible reduction of harmful chemicals for cleaning
- Reduce, reuse and recycle waste and packaging
- Improve the efficiency of energy waste
On Monday 14th June, two representatives from BIO Hygiene came to Head Office to advise us on how their new products could assist us in our endeavours. We learned more about enzymes than I suspect we ever did at school.
BioHygiene is ‘The UK’s leading manufacturer of Biotech cleaning products’. Their aim is to:
- Reduce the effects of climate change by offering Carbon neutral products from renewable and sustainable sources
- No ingredients toxic to human
- No ingredients toxic to aquatic life
- Stop single use plastic

As a company, the morning allowed us to question BioHygiene on their products and ethos and how this would support our drive to replace harmful, non-renewable chemical products with environmental biotech alternatives to improve human and environmental health.
We were impressed with their delivery and responses and they are now arranging for us to trial their products, putting them through their paces at Head Office.
Once we are confident that their products can further realise our commitment to reduce and track reduction as well as maintain levels of cleanliness provided by our existing products, we will be extending the trial to specific sites across regional areas. Ultimately we wish to create an e-brochure that allows us to share information and guidance with our clients.
A commitment to the environment is a whole company approach for WINNS. Woe betide anyone who prints documents willy nilly at WINNS. Ryan, the Director of Finance, who was also, we suspect, a member of the Spanish Inquisition in a former life, shares his disapproval and environmental message with the culprit, eagerly. But joking aside, it is very easy for us to consider the issue of climate change as a much bigger problem that requires legislation to change the actions of big companies, when in reality, we can all play a significant part by just changing what we can, when we can.
