Green Cleaning Products

We are living in a germ-phobic generation that feels the need to use harsh chemicals to rid themselves of germs and bacteria.

green cleaning products

Many of these products are riddled with ingredients we have never heard of and have no idea what they do. Not only this but a second paragraph on the bottle states all the ‘warnings’ and ‘health and safety’ problems with the product. These normally say things such as ‘avoid exposure to eyes’ or ‘if in direct contact with skin then wash off with water immediately’.

So this leaves us with the question "are these products actually safe to use"? Well apparently yes! Because we are exposed to such small quantities of this at a time, it really is okay. These products are fine to use when needed as we aren’t using then all day every day.

Unfortunately some people can not use these cleaning products due to their health. As these products are harsh on the skin and to breathe in. Some people react with products differently, many getting a rash or itchy skin. This is because the product cannot be absorbed by the body.

Even though these products are fine to use, some people may not be able to and others may just not like the idea of using so many chemicals in daily life. Below is a list of a few green ways to clean your home that are chemical free.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are a great antibacterial option without using chemicals. They also smell naturally great and have no artificial colouring. They can also be used with natural biodegradable grime fighting ingredients that would give even the strongest chemical cleaner a run for its money.

All Purpose Cleaner

You need four ingredients for this cleaner including white vinegar, water, lemon rind and rosemary sprig. This is a scented all natural cleaner that will leave your home looking and smelling beautiful. All you need to do is put these four ingredients in a spray bottle, shake and leave to infuse a week before use.

Cleaner & Deodoriser

For this all purpose cleaner and deodoriser all you'll need is four tablespoons of baking soda and 2 pints of warm water. Simply pour this on to a sponge and you're ready to go. This combination can clean anything from your stainless steel sink to your counter tops.
