An issue that cleaning companies all over the world face is ensuring items don't just "look clean" but can in fact guaruntee that the area being cleaned has been rid of all harmful germs and bacteria. The problem with germs and bacteria of course is that they can be deceiving little things, and are not easily picked up upon by the human eye. This is where we have to put our faith in products and machines to do this for us, and ensure that our businesses are operating in a safe and hygenic way in order to ensure effective health and safety in the workplace. Here are some top tips your business may benefit from, implement them and you'll be looking at a much healthier working environment!

1) Take a look at those shoes

Shoes are a prime "out of sight, out of mind" example when it comes to invisible bacteria. It is often claimed that shoes can harbour more bacteria than a toilet seat, which makes sense, as it comes into contact with numerous elements on a daily basis. You may walk into the office with presumably "clean" shoes, but think about what your shoes may have walked through between when you left the house and now? There's no need to panic though, as there are measures that can be put in place to reduce the threat of bacteria. Experts recommend implementing a barrier matting system upon entrance to aid removing the harmful particles, as well as installing an air shower which works by producing a downward draught to displace particles and traps them in the barrier mats.

2) Dust... be gone!

Dust can have a huge impact on your workplace. There are a few ways that this can be remedied. As a simple solution, ensure that all surfaces are regulaly wiped down and cleared of dust, this avoids your employees coming into high levels of contact with it, which can of course create health issues. A longer term solution, alongside having regular wipe downs of surfaces, is to install air conditioning and implementing HEPA filters to the hoovers uses within the office, which reduces the amount of dust being spread during a clean.

3) Disposal units

Having appropriate and effective disposal units greatly contributes to the cleanliness of your business site. Ensure that there are plenty situated around so that employees know exactly where their waste needs to go. It's also important to have the disposal units emptied regularly to avoid the build up and spillage of waste, which can lead to pests becoming attracted to the site.

4) Effective Cleaning Company

A holistic approach to ensuring your business site maintains a hygienic standard is to hire a professional cleaning service. This will provide your business with highly trained cleaning staff who know exactly what products and machines need to be used for each situation. Without training, it can be difficult to understand  how to treat and clean certain areas, but with a cleaning company you can be safe in the knowledge that your business is being looked after.
