WINNS’ Top Tips To Cleaning The Communal Areas Of Your Commercial Property

Your communal areas will need particular focus within your cleaning schedule as those are often the places which harbour the most harmful bacterias and are also one of the main contributors to brand identity. With both of those being very important parts of your business, it is essential you take the time to properly clean your communal areas.

  1. Entrances & Exits

Often forgotten or neglected by the cleaning schedule, but the entrances and exits of your building will be perhaps the most used areas of your building. They see a variety of people coming in or out, therefore must remain safe as well as effectively reflecting the business. If you ensure daily that you are cleaning these areas you are making a huge difference whilst preventing any negative repercussions. Remember to clean both the inside of the entrances and exits as well as the outside, both are necessary to make sure to use the appropriate cleaning tools and agents depending on where you are cleaning.

  1. Bannisters

These will need extra TLC as copious amounts of hands use the railings every day. They can easily be an eyesore if left to develop dirt and grime, therefore cleaning as well as polishing is essential.

  1.  Glistening surfaces

Your windows, especially in your reception, will need regular cleaning both inside and out, but make sure not to neglect other surfaces such as door handles, light switches, plug sockets, mirrors etc. All will need regular cleaning to prevent smudges, stickiness and dust. They receive high traffic and are exposed to large amounts of dirt, therefore regular cleaning will help to prevent dirt going unseen. Remember to properly clean these surfaces, if not done properly it could leave them looking worse than before with added smudges and smears.

  1. Skirting board

Although not an obvious place for visitors to see, they should not be forgotten! If spotted it could easily turn a customer away by seeing neglected dust which has clearly been there a while. The skirting board doesn't need regular deep cleans, a simple wipe with your chosen cleaning agent and cloth will do the trick. The more a room is used and visited by people the more dust will form, therefore pay particular attention to the skirting board in your reception, canteen/kitchen, toilets etc.

  1. Flooring

The floors of your communal areas will have the most wear and tear than any other surface in your building. Our shoes carry a tremendous amount of dirt, grime and bacteria, because of this particular focus on your floors is necessary. A general daily clean will need to be conducted, but schedule deep cleans and reactive stain management to ensure your floors do not leave germs to spread, cause trip hazards to visitors or be an eyesore.

Regular, scheduled and effective cleaning will be essential in order for your communal areas to be safe for your employees and visitors.
