Following the success of the Hares About Town trail in 2021, Havens Hospices have teamed up once again with Wild in Art, bringing public art in the shape of Elephants to our wonderful City.

We were so intrigued and in awe of the Hares when they were displayed, that we knew we had to make sure that we joined up for their next art trail and support Havens Hospices.

Little Havens Hospice is a charity organisation that provides palliative and end-of-life care for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses. As part of their fundraising efforts, they previously launched a project to paint hare statues that would be auctioned off to raise funds for the hospice. The project was a huge success, not only raising vital funds for the charity but also bringing together artists, businesses, and the community to support a worthy cause. This year they have picked elephants as their canvas.

The elephant statues are initially plain white and made of fibreglass, providing a blank canvas for artists to unleash their creativity. Artists of all ages and skill levels were invited to submit their designs, which ranged from realistic portraits of elephants, to abstract and colourful interpretations.

The artists will showcase the winning designs at a wonderful showcase at Roslin Beach Hotel. Businesses and organisations sponsoring the event will get to select their choices for which elephants they would like. The resulting elephant statue designs will be stunning and varied, showcasing the incredible talent and imagination of the artists involved. Just like the Hares, some will be adorned with intricate patterns and designs, while others featured bold colours and playful imagery.

The elephant statues will be displayed in public areas throughout the community, creating a buzz and attracting visitors from near and far. People of all ages were drawn to the colourful and whimsical hares last time, taking pictures and sharing their excitement on social media. We have no doubt that the elephants will have even more of an impact this Summer.

Sponsoring the painting of the elephant statues for Havens Hospice is a wonderful project that will bring together the community, businesses, and artists to support a worthy cause. The resulting elephant statues were not only beautiful works of art but raise awareness for all involved, especially the great work of Havens Hospices.

We will be having some sneak peek updates of our elephant soon and a fun competition for the launch of the elephants so follow us to keep up to date and not miss out.
