The top ten companies that are at the top of their game when it comes to being eco-friendly.

1. Ikea

Ikea is one of the top leading companies for being eco-friendly starting with the manufacturing process. This is done in Sweden, who source close to 50% of its wood from sustainable forests and 100% of its cotton from farms that meet better cotton standards.

The sustainability doesn’t stop there, as their stores have solar panel powering. They have also said that they plan to incorporate 100% renewable energy sources by 2020 and a net energy exporter.

2. British telecom

BT is heavily investing in wind farm technology and now offers flexible hours and video conferencing to attempt to reduce employee travel. They also aim to cut their carbon emission by up to 80% and the same for global carbon intensity.

3. Yahoo

For a company of its size Yahoo uses 95% less water and 40% less energy overall. It is also encouraging its 600 million global users to try and go green. Their own green site is well known for great eco-friendly lifestyle tips.

4. Nike

Nike have made an app that helps designers to make green choices when choosing fabrics. The app tells them which fabric produces the smaller environmental footprint. They also redesigned their boxes to reduce packaging.

5. Dell

Dell plans to reduce its total emissions by 40%. They also use recycled plastic in their product production process and it will take back any old equipment for free.

6. Panasonic

With highly ambitious energy goals for efficiency and renewables and focusing on producing environmentally friendly products. They have created great sustainability in the day-to-day running of the company. This includes moving near a station so employees could get the train to work instead of drive.

7. Toms

Toms has been donating a pair of shoes every time one pair is purchased and has now donated over 60 million shoes to children around the world. They have since expanded to provide clean drinking water, eye services and safe birth kits to communities in need around the world. All Toms shoes are made with sustainable, recyclable and vegan materials.

8. Lush Cosmetics

A leading brand in all natural bath and body products. These include shampoo bars to reduce packaging waste and offer free products to customers who bring the empty pots back. Their great eco-friendly and great products earn them a great deal of love in the beauty community, regularly being blogged about.

9. Adobe

Adobe has been recognised for being green within the IT industry. Their aim is to get to a net zero energy consumption and reducing their packaging. They have also managed to reduce their water usage.

10. Apple

The most well known tech company Apple is also doing their bit when it comes to being eco-friendly. They have signed a nearly $1 billion deal with first solar. Apple power all of its stores, offices, data centres and headquarters with solar energy. Their well loved products are also a focus of sustainability and so is their packaging.
